Author and Journalist James Rada will be speaking about the kidnapping of Union Generals from Union- occupied Cumberland in 1865. Rada will discuss his written work and further knowledge on this daring, local event in Civil War era Western Maryland. This event is Free and Open to the Public and will be held in the ballroom of The Gordon-Roberts House Museum.

The Union Grove One Room School was recently restored by the Allegany County Historical Society with a grant from the Maryland Historic Trust. The school
is used to give schoolchildren the opportunity to experience a day in a one room school. For additional information contact the Historical Society at 301-777-8678.
